XE is the New covid strain, and it was first noticed in the United Kingdom in mid of January 2022. The new covid variant has behaved like a silent intruder and has impacted India and many other nations. With the new Covid variant, many countries have closed down their borders and restricted movement. What is the XE variant of coronavirus?

Corona XE variant is a mutation of the strains of the Omicron, and early studies have revealed that it could be around 10 per cent more virulent and contagious than other Omicron mutations. The XE is feared to bring in the fourth wave in many nations and is a sub-variant of Omicron. Almost all the states in India are put on alert looking at the rapid onset of the latest Covid -19 variant. 

The Omicron variant brought the third wave of infections of corona in India this winter. Though highly transmissible, the reported mortality rate was much less for the Omicron variant when compared with the deadly second variant, which globally reported the maximum mortality rate. The two principal subvariants of Omicron are BA.1 and BA.2. While BA.1 is the original strain, BA.2 is more infectious and widespread.

For example, the Corona XE variant is a recombinant sub-variant of Omicron, with aspects of BA.1 and BA.2 in the spike protein part. Recombination is to be expected, but it’s not especially common. Coronaviruses and other viruses go via this natural process. Almost five per cent of COVID-19 cases in the United States and the United Kingdom were recombinant.

Symptoms of New Covid Strain
